Hate Preachers – Why cant they just leave people alone?!

The citizens of the world have judged one another since the dawn of time – intolerance, extremism and disillusion isn’t new. Us millennials (ha! i’m so categorising myself here even tho I am at least 10 years past that grouping!) are more tolerant of others, we open up more, we don’t view people by their physical limitations, their gender binaries or their religious beliefs, its just not what people in my world do but that doesn’t mean its not out there.

Hate Preaching comes in many forms from religion to sexual orientations and recently I watched a documentary on US Preachers who are against homosexuality. Naturally I wanted to share my views on this with one main question How can preaching hate ever bring about harmony?

Girl UP!

girlup2_glamour_18apr16_pr_b_640x640I picked up the copy of Girl Up from the airport recently and was met with the cashier shouting “Girl Power!” with a air punch followed by the best review you’d ever want in a book store “We love this book in here. You are going to really enjoy it!” – Now I’m sure they say that to all the books but this really felt sincere. Lets face it, who wouldn’t love a book that promises feminist limericks, colour-by-numbers genitalia and dancing vaginas (hence my featured image of choice!)

Sex Ed – Did you learn enough?

I am currently reading Laura Bates’s Everyday Sexism and I’ve got to tell you there are some pretty shocking facts and figures throughout the book that make for some difficult reading. The book follows commentary by Laura around submissions to the Twitter handle @EverydaySexism
where women share their experiences of sexism in their everyday lives.   Time and time again reports from school age girls come in about sexual harassment and rape. A new report out today from the UK Govt. Women and Equalities Committee is asking for more Sex and Relationship Education within schools. Is it needed? What exactly *is* needed? Is the simple answer to teach kids not to touch each other at all?

Peddling with Passion – The Dutch now say that cycling improves your sex life!

So from peddling to passion, sweating to seduction getting on two wheels has many more benefits than helping you to just conquer the daily commute. Another reason why cycling like the Dutch is a habit we all need to adopt.

Not only does cycling help you to keep trim but it turns out its good for your sex life too! (Minus the chaffing – there’s nothing sexy about that!)

With more bicycles than residents across The Netherlands major cities see almost 70% of all journeys made on two wheels. People who are cycling to and from work as opposed to the commute by car or train are apparently having better sex.

A survey showed that people who cycle to work in the Netherlands are indeed happier and their sex life is better since adopting peddle power.

Cycling with clothes on is more advisable than doing it in the buff like these Toronto protestors!

Now cycling and sex may not have a direct correlated link for some people but I thought I would try and through some light on what other factors might be contributing to this finding.

  1. Cycling like many cardio sports allows the mind to settle and cuts oneself off from the worries of daily life (bar the stress of traffic and the sweaty state you end up in. Those worries are still real.) The less work stress you take home equals a better home atmosphere with friends and loved ones and more desire for passion in the sheet.
  2. Exercise increases stamina which in turn increases…you get the picture.
  3. Biking is a great form of exercise, exercise increases body confidence which makes getting saucy a little less daunting.
  4. Cycling is good on your joints, reducing wear and tear in ones exercise regime gives more scope for extra curricular activities.

Whether you don your helmet and take to the pavements or not, if you needed an excuse to oil your chain and get that heart rate up this is as good as any.

Should prostitution be criminalised? – No bad women just bad laws.

Opinion is divided across the world with regards to the criminalisation of prostitution. In The Netherlands it is legalised and regulated whereas in the UK it is illegal. Now you’re not going to find an article anywhere online condoning prostitution. Trust me, I’ve looked for them, and this isn’t what this post is going to try and do. I’m not suggesting that prostitution is a career move to consider or any part of a persons ‘life plan’. What I am going to question in this post is the morality of prostitution. Does society still need to frown upon it to the extent it has done in the past? Are we more desensatised to sex than ever before? Can you genuinely argue the case for prostitution as a business? Why will there forever be an divide in opinion, is this generational, cultural or individual?

Europe has very different viewpoint and here on this blog you know how much I like to explore the big arguments of the day:

Is regulated prostitution really a bad thing?
